Hey MBA members!
My name is Bridie Ritchie and I would like to introduce myself to those of you I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting. My husband Jim and I farm just outside of Souris with our two kids. We purchased the family farm in 2018 and converted it from a beef and grain operation to a bison ranch and haven’t looked back since!
This year the MBA will be attending the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair with the goal of showcasing the bison industry within Manitoba. The winter fair runs from March 28th to April 2nd, 9am to7pm. The booth is located in the Ag Education area along with the provinces other livestock industries. We are looking for members who would be willing to volunteer their time at the winter fair. Duties at the booth would include interacting with the public, talking about the industry, handing out CBA pamphlets and recipe cards and we also have bison hump day stickers to hand out to the kids.
The winter fair will have over 300 commercial and agricultural exhibits and during the last Winter Fair (2018) saw around 110,000 attendees. The fair would be a great opportunity for members to promote bison and bison producers in person to the general public. It could also be a great opportunity to network in person with other members whilst working the booth.
